f:1176 -    Shariah ruling on reciting the Holy Quran during Iqaamah
Country : Kalyan Nagar,
Name : Faisal Iqbal

Question:
Mufti Sahab, my question is that in our mosque even when the Iqaamah for Salaat is given, people keep talking.  Also, old people keep reciting the Holy Quran even when the Iqaamah is being given.  What is the Shariah ruling regarding reciting the Holy Quran during Iqaamah?

.....................................................................................................................................
Answer:
It is Commendable (Mustahab) to answer to the Iqaamah.  Talking or doing something else when the Iqaamah is being given is not correct.  Only the answer to the Iqaamah is to be given.  Even if someone is reciting the Holy Quran, they should stop it when the Iqaamah starts, listen to the words of the Iqaamah carefully and answer to them.

As mentioned in Fatawa A’alamgiri, Kitaab Us Salaat.

And Allah The Most Merciful and The Most Beneficent knows best.
