Giving bill for more than the paid amount

I run a cloth business.  Some people buy clothes and ask us to make a bill of more than the actual paid amount.  Is doing so permissible?

I run a cloth business.  Some people buy clothes and ask us to make a bill of more than the actual paid amount.  Is doing so permissible?

Demanding a receipt of more than the actual paid amount is forbidden (Haraam) as per the Shariah, as the person doing so cheats somebody else and takes more money than really paid.  This is cheating as well as lying, although the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has said: The one who cheats is not of us.  (Jame’ Tirmidhi, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 245, Hadith No. 1363)

Thus, giving a bill of more than the paid amount is impermissible, as this is aiding someone in cheating and deception and Allah Ta’ala has prohibited us from helping each other is sinning.

And always support one another in (the works of) righteousness and piety but do not become accomplices in (works of) sin and transgression.  Surah Maida (5:02)

You should give a bill only for the actual amount and refrain from becoming a party to cheating and deception.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) knows best.
