Oxygen in fast

During a fast itself, my father’s health deteriorated and he was taken to the hospital, where he was placed on oxygen.  The question is about the fast in which he was placed on oxygen.  Is it valid or was it invalidated (Fasid)?

Fasting is to stay away from food and sex from sunrise to sunset.  Breathing is necessary for life.  People are placed on oxygen when they have difficulty breathing.  Oxygen is included in breathing itself and there is no undesirability in using artificial oxygen while fasting.  It does not break the fast.  But if some medicine is sent along with the oxygen, then the fast will break.  As given in Fatawa A’alamgiri, Vol.  1, Pg No: 206 and Bahr Ur Raiq, Vol.  ,2 Pg No: 300.
